Element: Prepare to conduct paver screeding operations
  • Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
  • Access, interpret and apply paver screeding operations documentation and confirm work activity is compliant
  • Identify environmental issues and potential hazards, and assess and address risks within scope of own role and according to workplace procedures
  • Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
  • Confirm and comply with environmental protection, safety and traffic management signage requirements
  • Select plant, tools and equipment required for tasks, and check for faults within scope of own role and report or rectify in scope of own role
  • Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and identify steps required in case of fire, accident and other emergencies
  • Set equipment to required levels to lay material on surface according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements
  • Set electronic levelling equipment and check level
  • Set heating controls for screed according to workplace procedures
  • Set screed controls for operation according to workplace procedures
  • Adjust screed during operation as required
  • Identify and rectify faults in the mat in scope of own role and notify paver operator of problems with mat as required
  • Monitor work of rake hands and rollers
  • Maintain communication with paver operator monitoring job progress
  • Perform operator maintenance according to workplace procedures
  • Handle and dispose of waste material as required according to workplace procedures and environmental requirements
  • Clear work area and dispose of and recycle materials as required according to workplace procedures and environmental requirements
  • Clean, check, perform maintenance on in scope of own role, and store plant, tools and equipment
  • Carry out housekeeping to workplace requirements
